• Splitter How to create an MFC splitter window that can easily be toggled from Vertical to Horizontal.
• gnuserv An NT port of this useful Emacs program.  This version uses sockets allowing it to be used between different machines and platforms.

Development resources

• Interface Hall of Shame Well worth a visit. There is some very good advice about what not to do here.
• Bob Stout's SNIPPETS Lots of good, varied code snippets here, mostly in C, most either fairly portable or very easily ported.
• Wotsit's File Format Collection   You name it, from every graphic file format under the sun (or so it seems) through to spreadsheets, games etc.  Very neat.

• BestCrypt for Windows NT Secure your private information. This really neat product creates an encrypted file system (FAT or NTFS) within a file.  You mount the system as a removable drive and have on the fly encryption/decryption to the mounted drive. There is a time limited demo of a retail product here.
